About Miss Hemphill - Second Grade PDF Print E-mail

Miss Hemphill is the second grade teacher at Mount Calvary Catholic School. Ever since she was a little girl she has always wanted to teach. She can remember the times when she would line her dolls up against the wall and teach to them on a small chalkboard that her mother bought for her. She would sometimes ask her mother to bring home carbon paper so that she could make copies of the worksheets for her "students" on that particular day (that was before computers became popular). She knew that she was destined to teach and here she is.

Miss Hemphill is a graduate of Frostburg State University with a BA in Social Psychology in Primary Education with a minor in Psychology and Sociology. She is also a graduate of Grand Canyon University with a Masters of Education in Elementary Education.

Before coming to Mount Calvary, Miss Hemphill worked for the Department of Agriculture in a unit called Families, 4-H, and Nutrition. She plans to incorporate her knowledge into her teaching and also to share vital information on a regular basis regarding children, families, their health and well-being. She also has had past experience in teaching a summer enrichment class for a few years as well as tutoring Math at a local school in Alleghany County.

Miss Hemphill also has a old son who attends Mount Calvary Catholic School. She loves every bit of motherhood.

Miss Hemphill loves to cook for family and friends, do crafts, be around family and friends, travel, go shopping, go to the movies, bowl, and surf the Internet. Her favorite foods are yellow cake (has to be extremely moist), spaghetti, macaroni and cheese, and she loves a good crab cake. She does not like roller coasters or bugs!
